Retainers 4 Life Flower Mound, TX

Naturally, teeth shift as the body’s natural response to muscular forces. This is more common in patients who have completed orthodontic treatment. After a patient has completed their orthodontic treatment, their teeth are always likely to return to their pre-treatment position.

Wearing a retainer is essential to maintaining a straight and functional smile. To help prevent orthodontic relapse and help our patients maintain their ideal smiles, we offer dental patients in our Flower Mound, TX, office the opportunity to enroll in our Retainers 4 Life Program.

Retainers 4 Life can help ensure you always have custom retainers designed to fit your smile without paying full price. Once you enroll in our program, you only have to pay a small copay when replacing your retainers. This way, you can wear your retainers without worrying about losing or damaging them. You don’t need to worry about your teeth shifting out of their positions when you have Retainers 4 Life.

How can Retainers 4 Life Benefit You?

There is often a misconception that retainers must only be worn for a few years following treatment. If you don’t wear your retainers, your teeth can continue to shift throughout your life. Wearing your retainers ensures you enjoy a long-lasting, beautiful smile.

Retainers 4 Life helps you maintain properly fitting retainers without ever paying full price again. We hope no one will put off replacement until it’s too late and needs re-treatment at an additional cost.

We know you’ve invested a lot in your smile, and we want to honor your investment by making it as easy as possible to maintain the smile we created together. This program isn’t just for patients treated in our office with braces or Invisalign. You can enroll in our program if you’ve had braces elsewhere. Retainers 4 Life FAQs

Do you have questions about Retainers 4 Life? Read answers to commonly asked questions about this program:

Can I order more than one retainer at a time?

Yes, there is no limit to how many retainers you can order. A backup retainer is a great idea for patients who travel frequently or are used to misplacing things. You are better off having at least one backup for those unforeseen circumstances. If you don’t have a backup retainer, you can potentially experience orthodontic relapse.

How do I order a new retainer?

Patients interested in ordering a new retainer need to call and make an appointment to visit our office for dental impressions. As an added benefit, patients often receive their retainer by the next day and, in many cases, the same day.

Will my smile outgrow my retainer?

No. Your permanent teeth will not ‘outgrow’ your retainer. You do not have to worry about getting fitted for a new retainer if you are not currently having issues with your retainer. Contact us if your retainer does not fit properly anymore. Damaged retainers can cause dental issues, so it’s a good idea to replace them periodically.

How often should I clean my retainer?

We often recommend cleaning your retainer before placing it back in your mouth. It’s also important to brush and floss your teeth before placing your retainer on your teeth to prevent bacterial buildup and staining.

If you wear your retainers consistently, you should clean your retainer multiple times a day and then do a deep clean once weekly. When you begin to wear your retainers at night, you only need to clean them once daily. It’s still a good idea to deep clean them weekly.

Do I need to wear my retainer all day?

At first, you want to wear your retainer constantly. Then, 4 to 6 months after you complete treatment with braces or clear aligners, we will evaluate your smile. We may then recommend wearing your retainer nightly. It will take time to ensure that your teeth stay straight with your retainers before we recommend wearing them during sleep.

Can I wear an orthodontic retainer if I have a TMJ disorder?

Please let us know if you develop a TMJ disorder after orthodontic treatment. You can damage your retainers if you experience bruxism or teeth clenching and grinding. We may recommend a mouthguard and physical therapy if you experience bruxism due to your TMJ disorder.

In most cases, orthodontic treatment can help address TMJ disorders. This is because crooked and misaligned teeth put pressure on the temporomandibular joints. If you have orthodontic problems, you may also pressure some teeth more than others, contributing to teeth clenching and grinding.
